About Freedom Boat Adventures
Until now nobody in East Anglia has challenged traditional boat building designs that are not accessible to those with limited mobility or complex needs. Our boat "for all" can have a huge positive impact on many people's lives living with disability, and create an experience that wouldn't otherwise exist.
The Team at Freedom Boat Adventures is focused on offering an amazing program of fully accessible boat experiences that can offer fun, water based education and empowerment for all ages and abilities. Our passengers can now look forward to accessing sea-going experiences and their proven therapeutic and mental health benefits.
The team comprises of people from a mix of backgrounds that compliment the project and enable us to meet the challenges of creating such a project - These include boat builders - engineers - youth - a community worker - a disability activist & wheelchair user plus a range of professionals in the water-based community who are actively supporting the project.
The team is also supported by the wider Mersea community who have offered volunteer support and are fully engaged in the ongoing fund-raising activities.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide accessible and safe experiences for people with disabilities on the waters surrounding Mersea Island, using the power of water to connect, educate, inspire, and empower.
Our aim is to foster community engagement, promote environmental stewardship, and offer therapeutic and recreational opportunities for disabled individuals of all ages. By sharing the joy of the water, we strive to create a lasting impact on the well-being of those we serve, while building a stronger, more inclusive sea-faring community.
